Do you Believe? Do you want to be a Christian?
Do you believe in God?
Do you believe in the Bible?
The Bible is made up of two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. There are 66 books in the Bible, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. The Bible is God's inspired word. (2 Tim. 3:16) Eight holy men (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Peter, James, Jude) wrote the Bible under God's direction. This is God talking to us.
How do we talk to God? Pray without ceasing (Matt. 6:5-15 / I Thess. 5:17).
The two parts of the Bible are the Old Testament and the New Testament. A testament is a covenant. What is a covenant? (e.g. - a marriage vow, rainbow in the sky following the great flood)
The Old Testament was given to Israel (God's chosen people) through Moses (Exodus 34:27, 28) and is referred to as the Law of Moses.
Look through the book of Leviticus and read the many laws and rules that the Israelites were to follow. Under the Old Law, the priest had to sacrifice a goat to make atonement for the sins of the children of Israel every year. Everything was spelled out and tedious. (Lev. 16:34)
But God loved us so much (John 3:16), that He gave the gift of His own Son to establish a new covenant. (Hebrews 10:9) God gave His only Son as a living sacrifice to "wash away our sins."
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no Man cometh to the Father but by me." (John 14:6)
- words of Jesus
What did Jesus say a person has to do to become a Christian and gain forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life?
