Extension Service
Arvis Thorn - Deacon
  • The extension service is a program that serves those requesting communion when they are unable to be at the church building. This service is provided to those in the hospital, nursing homes, or members who are shut-ins. To receive this service, contact the church office at 753-3714.
Counting and Ushers
  • Ushers are scheduled for regular and special auditorium assemblies to ensure that members and guests are appropriately seated. Ushers also assist with the communion service. An attendance count is taken at each assembly and reported to the office.
Entrance Greeters
Joe Phillips
  • Glendale members volunteer to at as greeters on their involvement cards and are scheduled to greet members and visitors at the doors at each service. They are also available to direct any member or visitor to an appropriate classroom on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
Fern Terrace
Ron McNutt - Deacon
  • Worship services are conducted each Sunday morning from 10:15 until 11 o'clock for the residents of Fern Terrace Lodge. Steve Joe Simmons and Kenneth Cleaver assist Ron in the worship service.
Public Participants
Gerald Coles - Deacon
  • The purpose of this area of involvement is to allow the Christian men of the congregation the opportunity to serve publicly in the worship service. Areas of public service include making announcements, praying, scripture reading, and serving the Lord's Supper. It is important to have these positions properly staffed prior to worship time.
Nursery, Baby Pillows, and Mother's Morning Out
Rusty Back and John Mark Potts - Deacons
  • Nursery - Glendale Road provides a nursery for children up to 36 months old during worship services, gospel meetings, singings, and other special events. This service is provided so that families (members and visitors) may leave their young children in the nursery while they assemble in the auditorium. Members of the church supervise the nursery on a rotating basis.
  • Baby Pillows - Members of the congregation meet periodically to sew baby pillows that are distributed three times a week to all babies born in the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
  • Mother's Morning Out - Mother's Morning Out is held each Friday from 9am until noon. Members may bring their children or grandchildren to the building to be cared for. This gives members some free time to do things that they might not otherwise be able to do. A small donation is accepted to cover the cost of snacks and related materials.
